The journey

An open-air sanctuary

For anyone seeking inner truth, Nepal is an open-air sanctuary. Hinduism and Buddhism share the same valley, and in every alley there's a temple, a spinning prayer wheel, or a lamp lit by someone who passed by just before you.

From fire ceremonies to the quiet walkways of the monasteries, Nepal takes the traveler on a journey inward, all the way to sunrise before the Himalaya, when Everest and Annapurna appear on the horizon.

The heart of the journey

Sunrise before the Himalaya

In Nagarkot, high in the hills east of Kathmandu, we wake before the sun. Little by little, the light touches the eternal peaks of the range one by one, and on a clear day Everest appears in the distance.

Later, in Pokhara, Phewa Lake mirrors Annapurna, and the town invites silence, contemplation and inner reflection.

Standing before these mountains, you understand why so many seekers have come this far.

Good to know

Before you leave for Nepal

Do I need a visa?

Yes. U.S. citizens can get a tourist visa on arrival in Nepal, and we guide you through every step during preparation, along with your passport, insurance and vaccines.

Is altitude a concern?

Not on this itinerary. Kathmandu sits at about 4,300 feet and Pokhara at under 3,300. The great peaks are seen from lookouts, with no high-altitude trekking.

Do I need to be in good shape?

The pace is easygoing. Some temples have stairways, and there are light walks through the old cities, always at the group's pace.

Can I combine Nepal with India?

Yes. Many travelers continue from India to Nepal on the same trip. In our conversation, I'll explain how the two journeys fit together.

A travel companion who has been there and back

What moves me is what unites humanity. In Nepal, you see it in the monk's prayer at dawn, in the prayer wheel each person turns as they pass, and in the peaceful coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism, side by side, for centuries.

Those are the encounters I take you to, with time, respect and attention, so the journey also becomes a chance to rediscover your own essence.

Today I return to these places to find others who have heard the same call.
